Small House
I have a small house by the river
When the wind blows too strong
I feel it quiver
I have a garden
that doesn't cut it
Cuz when the waters grow high
They come and flood it
And I could have a home that's void of this fear
But anywhere else wouldn't be here
I have a tree to
a robin I rent
but when the rain's coming down
My bird is silent
And I could have a home that's void of this fear
But anywhere else wouldn't be here
There's nowhere else with morning rays so bright
Or where the stars all sing to me at night
And when the water
is getting higher
It's true, I wish for a place
Where it is dryer
Cuz I could have a home that's void of this fear
But anywhere else wouldn't be here
There's nowhere else with morning rays so bright
And where the stars all sing to me at night
When all is done and said
I see the storm clouds overhead
The waters come and take my bed
And leave me with remorse instead
And now the rains have come and gone
So has my house it seems
And now I have to close my eyes
To see in my dreams...
I have a small house
By the river...
